Fulton County Film Festival Rules 2020
NOVICE DIVISION - ALL STUDENTS INVOLVED MUST BE AN AVTF 1 STUDENT.
ADVANCED DIVISION- ANY FILM CONTAINING A STUDENT WHO IS AVTF 2-4.
MIDDLE SCHOOL DIVISION- ALL STUDENTS INVOLVED MUST BE A MIDDLE SCHOOL STUDENT.
LIMIT: 5 NOVICE SUBMISSIONS/ 5 ADVANCED SUBMISSIONS FROM EACH SCHOOL
General Requirements
Students can work alone or in teams of up to 5 members. UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES SHOULD STUDENTS GATHER OR BE IN THE SAME ROOM WHILE WRITING, SHOOTING, OR EDITING. SOCIAL DISTANCING SHOULD BE UPHELD DURING THE ENTIRE FILM MAKING PROCESS.
Adults/younger children can be on camera with unlimited speaking lines.
Non-speaking extras can be used (not part of the 5)
Film must contain:
a) Character Name- Must be seen, heard, or included in a meaningful way.
b) Prop- must be interacted with or used in some way, not just part of the background.
c) Line- must be spoken or written.
Each team will pick their Genre:
Comedy
Drama
Action
Suspense
Animation
Time Limit
Movie must be two minutes (02:00:00) or less.
Slates (white title over black screen) must be 5 seconds, do not count in run time.
Closing credits must be 10 seconds or less and do not count as part of run time.
No bloopers or out-takes allowed.
Slating
Five second black clip, then white title on the black background:
Slates must contain: Film Title, Team Name, Genre, and Category (Novice or Advanced)
Footage
All footage must be original and shot during the 2 weeks of competition. You may not use video clips from projects already completed for another purpose or copyrighted footage.
Audio/Music
Up to 60 seconds of a copyrighted song can be used. Credit must be given in the credits for all copyrighted audio. Original and royalty-free audio does not have to be cited and can have an unlimited play time.
Teacher Involvement
The teacher must preview all films prior to submission to verify all rules have been followed. If any rule is broken or requirements not met, the home teacher must disqualify the entry prior to submission to the contest.
The teacher may not make suggestions, critique, nor assist in entries.

DON’Ts
- Absolutely NO real or look-alike tobacco, drugs, alcohol or weapons can be used. Any violence should be insinuated, not seen. Films should adhere to a PG rating.
- Absolutely no profanity spoken, mouthed, bleeped or inferred.
- No blatant Sexuality: (such as couples lying down or in bed, showing too much flesh, or adopting an attitude of a particular sexual preference.)
- When possible please avoid sensitive topics (ie. suicide, school violence, bullying, etc.)
- The name of your school cannot be visible anywhere in your movie; not on shirts or walls.
- Films should avoid addressing COVID 19 or Corona Virus specifically.
Awards Night
- Awards will take place online at 7pm on Thursday May 14.
- Awards will be given for the following categories:
